NEW PROVIDENCE OVERVIEW New Providence Island is home to nearly two thirds of the Bahamian population. The main town, Nassau is the nation’s capital as well as being the hub of commercial and banking activity. Nassau rivals Switzerland in its banking secrecy laws and The Bahamas supports a tax free status where there is no income tax, capital gains tax, corporation tax or inheritance tax. Most International flights arrive in New Providence from where inter-island air services provide access to the many beautiful ‘Out Islands’. Nassau is also a stopping off port for many of the world’s cruise liners. Colourful markets, classy boutiques and jewellery stores and an abundance of excellent restaurants all help make Nassau an ideal place to start your Bahamian adventure. Most of the large hotels, with the exception of the British Colonial Hilton are on Cable Beach or Paradise Island. Cable Beach Paradise Island |
